Social Studies Curriculum
Students will participate in learning in several units of study based on American history. The units include the pre-Colonial and Colonial times, the American Revolution, the Constitution and Growth of our Nation, and the Civil War and Reconstruction. Related vocabulary, map and globe skills, U.S. government concepts, and reading skills are integrated into this study. Integration and extensions are made through the use of assigned projects and technology (such as computers and the Internet).
Social studies learning will not be limited to knowing important names, dates, and events. Students will learn and understand both the social consequences of history’s events and decisions and the relevance of those events and decisions to American life today.
